Hamilton Zoo and Hamilton Astronomical Society invite all primary and secondary school students to experience an unforgettable adventure with our exclusive sleepovers. Imagine gazing at the twinkling stars and learning about the wonders of the universe at night, then waking up to the delightful experience of being surrounded by native and exotic animals during the day.
For just $50 per person (students, teachers, or parents), this is an educational opportunity not to be missed. They even provide breakfast!

What do we do on a zoo sleepover?
Arrival at the observatory is at 7pm. The Zoo Educator and staff from the Astronomical Society will welcome you. The observatory experience includes a presentation by Astronomical Society staff, illustrated with slides of planets, comets, galaxies and more. This session can be designed to meet the learning needs of your students.
Weather permitting, the students will have an opportunity to view the night sky through the telescopes, and the Astronomical Society staff will stay overnight with you.
7am - 8am: Breakfast and pack up.
8:30am: Classroom based session as per the learning objectives noted on your booking form. After this session, students are given a short tour by the Educator.
9:30am: The zoo is open to public. The rest of the day can be spent enjoying the zoo at your own pace.

What do we eat on a zoo sleepover?
Breakfast is included in the sleepover experience. when you book, we'll send you a breakfast form to fill out. On this form, you can choose the kinds of breakfast you'd like to be available, and let us know about any dietary requirements. Please ensure you return this to us no later than a week before your trip.
Dinner is not included, so we suggest you eat prior to your arrival at the observatory.
Lunch is self-catered by you.

No problem! Perhaps you're a group of Girl Guides or Boy Scouts interested in learning more about stars and galaxies by night, then delving into the world of protecting endangered animals by day? Or maybe your child is a massive fan of astronomy and couldn't think of anything cooler than having an observatory sleepover followed by a visit to the zoo for their birthday party?
No matter what type of group you are, so long as there are at least 20 of you, Hamilton Zoo and the Astronomical Society have got you covered.
