Arbor Day at Waiwhakareke
Posted 25 May 2021
ARBOR DAY IS HAPPENING 4 JUNE - REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN NOW!
Join us and help restore Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park.
Arbor Day is Hamilton’s largest community planting event with hundreds of people turning out each year to help plant. Waiwhakareke is the city's flagship biodiversity project. The vision is to create a world-class ecological island in an urban environment - together we're growing nature in the city.
This is a fun, annual opportunity to unite with your community in support of this vision. And everyone can contribute, no matter your age, experience or ability.
Come for a full day or a half day. We start around 10am and finish about 3pm with planting concentrated over two hours. There’s a great communal spirit and we have people returning year after year.
The average volunteer will plant 15 plants over the two-hour planting period but it’s not a race. Our team will show you how to plant properly – if it’s done right, the trees you plant could be there for 500 years!
We go ahead rain or shine! For everything you need to know, check out the flyers. To register, hit the link below...
