That was a wild night! Cyclone Gabrielle certainly made an impact and our thoughts are with those who have been affected across Aotearoa. Here at the Zoo, we can confirm all the animals are safe and well, as are our Zoo team.

There is a considerable amount of cleaning up to do, with trees down and branches causing damage to visitor paths and fences in several places. Our priority is the safety of our visitors, animals and staff, so we remain closed while we get on top of this and before we welcome you back.

We will aim to update you tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday) on our progress and when we might be able to reopen. Any announcements will be made through our social media channels. Thanks for understanding.
