International consultancy and professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been commissioned to undertake the external review of Hamilton Zoo.

The review is already underway, and will examine a number of aspects of the zoo operation, including:
• Animal enclosures
• Zoo staffing and staffing structures
• Zoo operating procedures
• Health and safety and risk management
• Opportunities for enhancement and improvement at the zoo.
Zoo staff will be involved in workshops as part of the review.

The review will be concluded in March.

Any recommendations from the review will then be considered by Hamilton City Council Chief Executive Richard Briggs and General Manager Community Lance Vervoort.
