Christmas shop at The Warehouse and help send students on Zoofari!

This December you can help children from local decile 1-3 schools get a free educational experience at Hamilton Zoo.
‘For many schools the cost of transport and admission make a visit and educational tour at the zoo impossible’ says acting Zoo Director Dave Smart.
‘Thanks to a partnership between Hamilton Zoo and The Warehouse, we have found a way to support schools to get an exciting and educational view of some our amazing animals’.
The Warehouse Zoofari programme will help raise funds between now and 23 December by the popular "add a donation to purchase" at The Warehouse stores across Waikato and Coromandel.
Close to $40,000 has been raised in the past two years, enabling around 2000 students from 40 schools who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to visit Hamilton Zoo.
“We are only halfway there. There are 90 eligible schools and many more children who can benefit from these funds,” says Mr Smart.
Hamilton Zoo Education Team Leader Ken Millwood agrees, “Even a small contribution from a large number of people will allow even more students to get conservation education outside of the classroom”.
“It’s rewarding to be able to host these students, many have never had the opportunity to visit before and it’s made possible thanks to the support of The Warehouse and the generosity of their customers.”
The Warehouse Zoofari runs in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Wellington and Christchurch.
Decile 1-3 schools in the Waikato and Coromandel areas will be able to apply for this funding in the new school year and class visits will take place from term three 2017 onwards.
